An opportunity always knocks at your door

Sandeep Kr.sahu, A man of principles and his insistence to conquer the world on his terms. He was born with a disabled leg and facing many consequences in the Early stage of his life. A middle-class family with an elder son with a disability was very tough for the Sahu family of Raipur. But Sandeep was a determined boy and very hard working from his childhood. These qualities help him to grow slowly but steadily in life. He married Mamta Sahu and became a father of beautiful kids. Till here everything looks very good.

“You can’t do anything in life? Can’t you achieve anything in life?” The questions never stopped and always make noise in his ears. As boys were growing, he came around fearful thoughts that every father of an able child can; ‘How my kids will be treated in school? They will be bullied by their friends in the name of their disabled father?

These questions don’t allow Sandeep to sleep in serenity. Sleepless nights were increasing day by day.

But as we say “God helps those who help themselves”.

In the year 2013, when he was going through tough times in life, He deviate his mind from all nuisance around and started training himself in the gym to build his physique so that the young lads in the home can play and hang up with their dad without any doubt of his disability. Sandeep’s start in gym changed his life and the turning point of his life arrived. He gets the news of ‘physically challenged category in bodybuilding competitions’ and started training himself as he saw the reason to wipe out the stigma which he was facing with his disability in these years. He started proper training under a trainer. On 18th Dec 2013, he was prepared to participate in the National competition in Belgaum, Karnataka. But as not well groomed in just six months of initial practice; He was not able to clinch any title in the competition.

This was the major setback for him. He was upset by the results but a father’s heart urged him to buck up and appear again next time for the title. This doggedness to achieve took him on the journey of intense gym training for 1.5years till 2015. He was focused and determined to get that title the very next time whenever he would participate.

His time came in the year 2015, in the starting phase of the year; He clinched the bronze medal at the state level competition in Karnataka. The Same year, in Nov’2015, he won the
‘Mr.Chattisgarh Title’. This win was the eye-opener for his family, friends and rest of the people in Raipur. The successful journey starts and never stop after 2015.He was then the established bodybuilder in the country in this category. Next year on Jan’2016 at Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), He won the bronze medal at the National Championship.

While talking with Mr.Sandeep, He said; “The people faces comes in my mind who always laughed at me while I started my training back in 2013. I was so determined from inside that I kept their faces in front & start my exercise to show them that ‘Yes I can & I will show you one day’. You can feel the immense dedication of this man during this phase of his life by his words.

After that, his biggest achievement came in his life on 18th Dec’2016 at Gurugram (Haryana) in National’s, where He was the winner of the competition and Clinched the Title of ‘Mr. India’.

This journey teaches many things to him and his family. Sandeep told to khabaribabu.com that, “I was a target oriented man in these years of bodybuilding. I followed a strict diet which cost heavily (around 700/800Rs per day).My trainer Mr.Sachin Mishra always motivated me and trained me in full swing and under his strict supervision. Mamta, my wife supported me through this tough journey of my success, as by maintaining my diet properly, managing my home and children. She looks after my parents and all other household works. She always encouraged me for whatever I was doing in life to achieve my goal. My parents were initially not very happy and sure about my bodybuilding. They were worried about my wife, family responsibility and my children who were too small that time. But when my father witnessed the championship-winning movement, his tears rolled down and after that, I was supported wholeheartedly by my parents. My biggest fight was against all odds that came to my life due to my disability and my thoughts about my children that they should feel proud about their Dad. Nobody will tease them in life due to their father disability.”

He continued, “Bodybuilding needs a huge amount of money which includes proper Gym with a Trainer and daily diet which costs heavily for a middle-class family. Everyone supported equally; from my Trainer Mr.Sachin Mishra to My family. I received a big support from my company, Benchmark Group where I work as a Head of Operations. I always thank My Dear friends and esquires Mr.Vikas Panchariya and Rafik mamtora , for their immense support, Love encouragement & giving me required days off from my work for my training, eating relaxation during office hours as I was on the strict diet during my scheduled training process.”
Sandeep has named himself the title of “Mr. Chhattisgarh 3 times”; the last one came this year on 25th November at Raipur.

At the end, he told us about the next National Level competition which is going to be held on Januray’2018. He is practising for the upcoming title.
On behalf of khabaribabu.com, we wish him all the best for the next title and all the success and happiness in life. Sandeep Sahu, ‘You are a hero in your children eyes’.
