Anxiety – Food to control it

Published

on

It has been said that one’s diet is not only crucial to ensure the proper function of the body, but also the mind. In other words, while the mind might exert dominion over the body, it still relies on nutrients and minerals in order to maintain its health. But what about mental health – is there anything that can help in that department?

Believe it or not, there are many foods that will help you to better manage psychological conditions like extreme anxiety. Don’t believe it? Well, if you were an extremely nervous person it wouldn’t make much sense to consume copious quantities of caffeine, now would it? By simply limiting or paying special attention to how much sugar, caffeine, high glycemic carbohydrates and alcohol you intake, you can avoid anxiety flare-ups.

1. Dark Chocolates: First off we have something that will certainly pique your interest, chocolate. Yes, dark chocolate can provide health benefits in addition to helping to positively affect brain chemistry (cortisol production). Cortisol is actually called the stress hormone by some, and many studies indicate that a proper balance of it can help maintain a mentally balanced state as well as maintain blood-glucose levels.

2. Chamomile Tea: Sure, it might be considered a rather ancient solution to the problem of dealing with anxiety, but it works. Chamomile tea has been studied extensively and has been shown to help treat not only anxiety but also mitigating factors like depression as well as insomnia. Additionally, people report success in using chamomile tea to tame menstrual cramps as well as colds. Furthermore, there seems to be evidence that habitual chamomile tea drinkers tend to turn up with lower instances of developing cancer.

3. Whole green bread & Pasta: Foods containing complex carbohydrates actually help to add additional serotonin to the mix. Whole grains contain tryptophan, which gets converted into serotonin so that it can calm overactive neurotransmitters and promote a balanced mental state. Moreover, you get more required nutrients from whole grain foods, which is an incredibly good thing. Likewise, if you suspect that you might have something like a magnesium deficiency, whole grain bread and pasta are definitely the way to go.

4. Vitamin B: Nuts, leafy green vegetables, beans and certain types of cereal are good sources of vitamin B and should be consumed regularly. Aside from promoting cardiovascular health, B vitamin-rich foods also tend to positively influence the central nervous system (which in turn, helps alleviate anxieties).

Stay Healthy Stay Fit

Published

With the current way that people live it seems that achieving a healthy lifestyle is harder and harder to do. Everything around us is designed to make us lazy. Of course, we as humans tend to go with these “lazier” options because they are convenient and time-saving. We often don’t stop and think the impact on our health that these things have. Currently, over 30% of the world’s population is overweight. This has a direct link to the lifestyle that we live. If we choose to make just some simple swaps on a daily basis we can improve our lifestyle and our quality of life. We can make ourselves overall healthier.

Stay Healthy

1] One of the main things that impact our health and our weight is what we eat. Nowadays people are busy and it seems that there’s rarely any time to stop and cook food. This generally means we are opting for “fast food” or other convenience food like frozen meals and packaged meals. This food tends to be extremely processed and lacking the nutrients our body truly needs. There’s no way to make more time in our day, but there is a way to get healthy nutrition on the go. You can get the nutrition your body needs through convenient shakes and other products that you can take with you. Once you improve what you put into your body you will be able to see an improvement in your overall health.

2]Another thing that impacts our health is exercise. Every day someone is coming up with another “convenience” that is making people less and less active. There are ways to combat this as well and you don’t even need a gym membership. You can get active through small lifestyle changes such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator, getting up to adjust the TV volume instead of using the remote, walk over to the coffee shop around the corner instead of driving and going and doing your own grocery shopping instead of ordering your groceries online. It seems like the world we live in today revolves around not being active, but you don’t have to fall into that. You can make small lifestyle changes and get moving.

3] The next way to become healthier is to just prioritize your health. It seems that in this “modern” way of living people glorify being busy and tired. There is always something that needs to be done, and there is always a boss to impress. People feel like they have to put more and more hours into work and get more and more stuff done. The bottom line is that if you are sick and tired you will not be able to perform your best. You need to start making your health a priority.

4] Take time to relax, take time to spend with your family, take time to make sure you are getting the nutrition you need and take time to sleep. Prioritizing your health is not a bad thing, in fact, it’s a good thing. Probably one of the best things you can do for yourself is prioritizing your health and in doing so you will come to find that you can get more and more stuff done.

Have healthy foods

In the world we live in today it can sometimes seem that living healthy is impossible. This is just not true, through simple lifestyle changes such as getting better nutrition, being more active and prioritizing our health we can live a healthy lifestyle in the world that we live in today.
